I believe you are too optimistic. Basically, unless you have legal protection of your job, such as licensure that makes being a human with a college degree a requirement, you can be replaced. Lawyers will survive just as they do against foreign competition because they control the law, which dictates controls for entry to the bar. Physicians and the like may have the same protection but for how long. Basically, I'm sending my son to law school because I don't know if there will be any other job.

Excellent point regarding licensing, Joel - perhaps it does add some points to job security, one to keep in mind!
